Analysis of Surface Temperature Changes After Environmental Measures

Source of funding: Funding for the City of Prague’s Environmental Protection Program for 2020

Project deadline: 2020 – 2021

The main objective of the project Analysis of Surface Temperature Changes After Environmental Measures (ATEZ, 2020 – 2021) is to determine the impact of ecological measures on the climate adaptation of the affected sites using remote sensing data. In particular, the impact of the implemented measures on the changes in surface temperature of the sites in question both locally and in relation to the external environment is investigated.

The purpose of the project is to examine the effectiveness or shortcomings of the ecological measures implemented in the territory of the capital city. The aim of the project is to investigate the effectiveness and efficiency of the ecological measures in Prague and to inform the public about the importance of these measures. In addition, to create maps and documents for the City Hall. The aim of the project is to create maps and maps for the Prague City Hall to evaluate the effectiveness of individual measures and to support the creation of new ones.

The project uses remote sensing data. In this way, continuous values of surface temperatures and their changes over time in a defined area can be obtained. Both thermal and optical satellite data from the period before the application of the environmental measure and after the subsequent change will be used for the project. The project is used to evaluate the effectiveness of the implemented ecological measures, which, if properly implemented, can have a positive effect on the climate adaptation of the landscape and thus prevent negative changes caused by climate change.

The project is implemented on the territory of the capital city of Prague in places where ecological measures have been implemented. Changes in surface temperatures will be assessed both locally and in relation to their surroundings (lower/higher).

The outputs of the project will be of particular benefit to the City Hall. They will also serve as a basis for informing the public about the importance of ecological measures.
