The Department of Information Support for Environmental Policies evaluates the state and development of individual components and environmental burdens of the Czech Republic. It thus provides an information base for the preparation and evaluation of strategic environmental materials. Based on the results of science and research, project activities and international cooperation, it develops suitable methodologies and indicator sets not only for the evaluation of the development and state of the environment, but also for the evaluation of strategic materials and concepts of the Ministry. The evaluation is closely connected to the external data, methodological and expert base inside and outside the Ministry of the Environment.
The main outputs of the department include in particular the Report on the Environment of the Czech Republic, reports on the environment in the regions of the Czech Republic (so-called regional reports) and the Statistical Yearbook of the Environment of the Czech Republic, which are published annually. These publications form a comprehensive unit that provides an extensive source of information for addressing environmental issues.
The Department of Information Support for Environmental Policies also manages and fulfills national indicator sets, e.g. indicators of the State Environmental Policy of the Czech Republic, vulnerability indicators for the evaluation of the National Action Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change, and contributes to the creation and evaluation of sustainable development indicators.
The scope of work of the department is also the creation of scientific, professional and popular publication outputs in the field.
