Emas as a Nest to Help and Nurture the Circular Economy

The aim of the project Emas as a Nest to Help and Nurture the Circular Economy (ENHANCE; 2017-2020) is identification and exchang best practices at national and regional policy level in the field of voluntary instruments and sharing the methods applied within them. The aim is to promote and increase EMAS registrations and to integrate EMAS into key legislation and strategic regional and national policy documents across the EU. The project also aims to increase public awareness of EMAS among businesses and respond to current trends in consumer preferences, which increasingly demand information on the environmental performance of organisations.

The main idea of the project is to test, through action plans, the validity and effectiveness of the tools proposed to increase the effectiveness of the application of environmental management systems on the market and thus develop the green business and procurement sector. The return of the project lies mainly in the continuous support and education of the business sector towards environmental management of their enterprises in order to develop sustainable production and consumption. The expected effect of the project will be to link the needs and requirements of all stakeholders, support organisations currently registered in the EMAS programme, and increase interest in new registrations. By involving 6 different institutions from 5 EU countries, this effect will be multiplied.

The project is supported under the Interreg Europe programme funded by the ERDF Structural Fund.
