The Environmental Economics and Management Unit
The Environmental Economics and Management Unit deals with the issue of economic instruments used in environmental protection, conducts analyses and regulatory impact assessment studies and, via the EMAS Agency, ensures administrative support of the EMAS programme.
As far as economic instruments used for environmental protection are concerned, the Environmental Economics and Management Unit mainly deals with the following issues:
- Macroeconomic and microeconomic aspects of environmental protection,
- The application of economic instruments and the issue of environmental protection financing and expenses,
- Processing information about environmental protection support,
- The issue of environmental protection efficiency and its costs,
- Cooperation in resolving environmental issues, especially in transportation (e.g. transportation externalities), power engineering and renewable resources, agriculture and waste,
- The administration of an environmental economy database (e.g. environmental support, economic instruments),
- Cooperation in preparing the Statistical Yearbook of the Environment in the Czech Republic, Reports on the State of the Environment in the Czech Republic and separate (regional) publications on the state of the environment,
- The administration and continuous updating of its own set of environmental and sustainable development indicators on the Environmental Indicators portal,
- Assistance during the preparation of environmental legislation,
- The development of an environmental protection support register.
